Paediatrics is one of the most important arm of a hospital and also a branch of medicine that looks into the health and medical care of babies, infants, children and adolescents.

A paediatrician is a children’s doctor who provides preventive health services and support to children who are need care and those who are chronically and critically ill. A paediatrician looks into the physical, emotional, developmental, mental well-being of children under their care at every stage of their development. Paediatricians provide comprehensive diagnosis of various issues and conditions that can be treated.

Paediatrics though are not only restricted to providing immediate health management services but also pervade into long-term support towards the quality of life, survival and also disability. This they do through early intervention and detection of problems that include: –

When a baby is born prematurely, or has a congenital disorder or a defect a Neonatologist is the one who is responsible in providing care to the premature baby.

A neonatologist is trained specifically to manage the most complex and high-risk cases. If there is a problem before the birth of the baby, a Neonatologist will be involved in collaboration with the Paediatrician during the pregnancy.
